The African Centre for Media Excellence is pleased to invite applications for its sixth fellowship programme. The first workshop of the fellowship will be held on 20-23 February, 2017.
This fellowship, on parliament, legislative affairs and government oversight, is designed to give promising Ugandan journalists the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to deepen their coverage of important, but under-reported stories in this field.
It is a six-month in-service journalism training and mentoring opportunity targeting young and ambitious print, electronic and online Ugandan journalists, which also offers each fellow up to Shs TWO million in financial support towards TWO detailed reporting projects.
Benefits
- An 8-day public affairs reporting and data journalism crash course (split into two 4-day each) focusing on the meat and bones of Uganda’s parliament systems, legislative affairs and government oversight.
- A grant of up to Shs. 2 million per fellow to support two special reporting projects.
- Two hours of one-on-one mentoring with a senior journalist each month of the fellowship.
