- The grants programme supports the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Plan in these key areas:
- people
- environment
- community
- places
- economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- Higher Priority
- projects that are inclusive and support under-represented members of the community.
- they will also consider applications for match funding. Match funding is where grants are provided in exchange for the community group’s ‘match’ in volunteer labour, cash or donated goods and services up to the value of 40%. Applications will be prioritised and assessed under the same priorities as other grants.
- projects or activities which empower the community to enhance their resilience to emergencies and the impact of climate change.
- projects or activities that make the communities, feel connected and supported to plan, deliver, and participate in activities and services in their local area.
- Events that build a sense of connection among diverse communities and special interest groups, that provide an opportunity to showcase different cultures and stimulate economic activity.
- projects or events that align with the healthy environment principles of:
- water is the first choice
- good kai (food) for all
- projects that demonstrate smokefree, alcohol and drug-free programmes sustainable lifestyles and low-carbon messages
- promotes waste reduction initiatives
- Lower Priorities
- catering
- the purchase of electronic equipment
- ongoing administration costs – for example wages, salaries or rent with the exception of fees for professional and specialised services.
- fundraising activities for a group or organisation
- projects or events that are outside the local board
- initiatives that are eligible and can be funded by central government
- projects that do not demonstrate any benefit to the wider community
