Applications are now open for the Hogans Fellowship program.
Inspired by Mack Hogans, legacy corporate executive and the Council’s first Black Board Chair, the Hogans Fellowship focuses on propelling progress by supporting emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds develop the skills needed to stay and excel in the profession.
The Hogans Fellowship is a year-long cohort program designed to provide skills training, mentoring, and networking opportunities for a diverse set of public affairs professionals.
The program includes:
- Small group mentorship sessions with seasoned public affairs professionals
- Exclusive access to in-person and virtual fellows-only professional development sessions
- Access to executive level-education programming
- Registration to the Council’s 2024 Spring Executive Committee Meeting
- Access to a members-only virtual community with participating Fellows and mentors and access to a future virtual alumni network
- Recognition as an inaugural fellow in upcoming Council publications
Eligibility Criteria
- This program is centered on building the infrastructure to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the public affairs profession.
- They strongly encourage individuals that identify with the following backgrounds to apply –
- Minimum (3) years of Public Affairs experience
- Black, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous, Asian-American / Pacific-Islander
- LGBTQ+
- Applicants should be committed to building, sustaining, and advancing a career in public affairs. They encourage individuals who aspire to grow their skillset and have a passion to lead. They are looking for individuals that are collaborative, pragmatic, and intentionally mindful of how decisions impact others and their working community.
- Individuals working in any aspect of public affairs in the private or nonprofit sector are invited to apply. Some examples of public affairs jobs include jobs in external or internal affairs, government relations, grassroots engagement, PAC management, corporate or policy communications, and social impact. - They are invested in supporting a cohort that desires to build a more equitable and inclusive profession where people of color and underrepresented groups feel accepted and excel.
- Participation in networking events, professional development opportunities, and attendance at the 2024 Public Affairs Council Spring Board Meeting and Executive Conference come at no cost to Fellows. However, the Foundation is unable to fund travel to and from the Washington, DC area during the 2023-2024 program year.
