Deadline: 25-Nov-2025
The World Food Programme is launching a call to support food and nutrition assistance for crisis-affected communities in the Ennedi East province of Chad.
This initiative forms part of a wider effort planned for 2026 across several regions, including Ouaddai, Sila and Wadi Fira, where many families continue to experience severe food insecurity, malnutrition and disrupted livelihoods due to recurring humanitarian shocks.
The programme will deliver tailored assistance based on the level of vulnerability of each household. Extremely vulnerable families will receive monthly unconditional food support, either through in-kind food distributions or cash transfers that allow them to purchase food locally. Households classified as very vulnerable will receive quarterly social transfers to help stabilize their access to basic needs and reduce negative coping strategies. In addition, children aged six to twenty-three months, along with pregnant and breastfeeding women, will receive monthly nutritional supplements designed to prevent and treat malnutrition during critical stages of growth and maternal health.
Beyond direct food support, the initiative also seeks to strengthen knowledge and resilience within households. Mothers and caregivers will be supported with guidance on nutrition, feeding practices for infants and young children, hygiene and disease prevention. Some households will also be engaged in economic recovery activities aimed at improving self-reliance and reducing long-term vulnerability. By integrating food assistance with nutrition support and livelihood recovery, the programme aims to stabilize the well-being of affected families while promoting healthier and more resilient communities in Ennedi East and surrounding regions.
Through this call, WFP seeks qualified partners capable of delivering these services in a coordinated, culturally appropriate and accountable manner, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most and contributes to lasting improvements in food security and nutrition.
