Africa Media Network on Health: AMNH Excellence in Health Journalism Awards

Africa Media Network on Health (AMNH) is accepting applications for its AMNH Excellence in Health Journalism Awards ceremony to honour journalists who have demonstrated outstanding merit in health reporting.

The award ceremony and gala dinner would convene representatives from government, media and civil society to honor five selected journalists from countries where AMNH is currently active – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia.

The event will provide an opportunity to underscore the critical importance of quality health journalism through the remarks of a prominent event host as well as award speeches. The AMNH will also launch its new Model Curricula for Journalism Education – a certificate in health reporting.

Selection Criteria

Judges will be looking for stories/topics focusing a wide range of health systems strengthening; universal health coverage; health financing; health governance; human resources for health, including community health workers (CHWs); health policy and implementation issues; sexual and reproductive health and rights, health systems research and access to medicines.
