U Revolution is seeking applications for its Media Fellowships and offering 4 paid, non-residential global media fellowships to budding journalists or influencers who are passionate about changing the way organisation talk about chronic illness or disability. U Revolution Media Fellowships are meant to support up-and-coming media talent, giving them a launchpad for their future careers.
Applicants are encouraged to pitch ideas for raw, authentic stories about any health condition: from cancer, HIV/AIDS, and heart disease; mental illness, addiction or eating disorders; to MS and other mobility-affecting illnesses.
Funding Information
- Fellows will receive a €2,000 stipend (for the full period) to develop a creative work on the theme of awkward conversations that arise from chronic illness or disability to be published on U Revolution website.
Fellowships
A total of 4 Fellowships will be offered: one in each of the following categories.
- Revolutionary Writing Fellow
- The Revolutionary Writing Fellowship will be awarded to one budding literary artist or journalist, who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- a series of 6 full-feature, long-form blogposts or articles. These are not personal essays; rather they are in-depth, well-researched feature pieces that feature stories of other people, issues, or themes; or
- an e-book (fiction, or non-fiction) – 3,000-5,000 Word or 15,000-20,000 Word; or
- a weekly column – short blogposts, articles, or a ‘Dear Abby’-type column.
- The Revolutionary Writing Fellowship will be awarded to one budding literary artist or journalist, who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- Revolutionary Visual Art Fellow
- The Revolutionary Visual Art Fellowship will be awarded to one budding visual artist who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- a photo series or photo essay (think “disabled Humans of New York”); or
- a cartoon series; or
- a Graphic Novel.
- The Revolutionary Visual Art Fellowship will be awarded to one budding visual artist who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- Revolutionary Podcast Fellow
- The Revolutionary Podcast Fellowship will be awarded to one budding podcast producer who will be required to produce the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- Podcast series – 6 episodes
- The Revolutionary Podcast Fellowship will be awarded to one budding podcast producer who will be required to produce the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- Revolutionary Video Fellow
- The Revolutionary Video Fellowship will be awarded to one budding videographer who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
- a web-series – 6 episodes; or
- a documentary short; or
- a film short; or
- an animated short.
- The Revolutionary Video Fellowship will be awarded to one budding videographer who will be required to produce one of the following during the 6-month fellowship period:
