Deadline: 18-Sep-2025
The Novo Nordisk Foundation is inviting applications for nursing research projects to promote high-level Danish nursing research. The call supports projects lasting one to three years and aims to enhance the quality and impact of nursing practice and patient care in Denmark.
The purpose is to ensure that nursing in Denmark is grounded in strong research and contributes to the development of excellent nursing services. Projects may focus on disease prevention, health promotion, treatment methods, rehabilitation, palliative care, or organizational aspects of healthcare systems that aim to improve human health.
A total of DKK 3 million is available for this call. Grants range from DKK 50,000 to DKK 200,000 per budget year, and the total requested amount must fall between DKK 50,000 and DKK 600,000.
Applicants may request funding for specific project-related expenses. These include salaries for scientists, research nurses, postdoctoral researchers, and technicians; travel costs for research dissemination and international stays (up to DKK 25,000 per year); publication costs (also up to DKK 25,000 per year); minor equipment; operating costs such as materials and statistical services; and bench fees. Administrative support may be included up to 5% of the total budget.
Certain expenses are not eligible. These include the salary of the main applicant, commercial activities, indirect costs like utilities and rent, and double funding. If the applicant receives partial or full funding for the same project from another source, it must be declared. Any overlap in project submissions must also be disclosed, and PhD or other supervisory costs are not supported.
Applicants must be certified nurses involved in nursing research, and projects must be conducted at a Danish university, hospital, university college, or non-profit research institution. The application must have a strong research focus and be clearly anchored in an academic setting. Projects may be independent or part of a larger PhD or postdoctoral effort, provided that the broader project is well-detailed in the application.
Each applicant may only submit one application per call and cannot apply multiple times for the same project within the same calendar year. Submitting different proposals for different calls is allowed, as is holding multiple active grants of different types.
Applications will be assessed by NNF’s Committee on Nursing Research based on the applicant’s qualifications, project supervision, research environment, and the project’s scientific quality, originality, methodology, and feasibility.
