Apply for USAID’s World Aids Day Photo Contest!

USAID seeking Applications to implement DREAMS North Program (South Africa)

Deadline: 21 November 2017

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for its World Aids Day Photo Contest. The theme for World AIDS Day 2017 is “Increasing Impact through Transparency, Accountability, and Partnerships“.

There is no better time than World AIDS Day  to recommit ourselves to achieving epidemic control. This year, USAID celebrates the tremendous  progress made on a global scale in accelerating and expanding access to HIV prevention,  treatment and care services.

The U.S. Government, through PEPFAR, has helped not only save and improve millions of lives, but also transformed the global HIV/AIDS response. The end of HIV/AIDS as a public health threat is finally in sight. To help reach this goal, in September 2017, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson launched the PEPFAR Strategy for Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control (2017–2020) . The Strategy reaffirms that the U.S. Government, through PEPFAR, will continue to support HIV/AIDS efforts toward achieving epidemic control in more than 50 countries; provide services for orphans and vulnerable children; ensure access to HIV services by all populations, including the most vulnerable and at-risk groups; and accelerate progress in a subset of 13 high-burden countries with the greatest potential to achieve epidemic control by 2020.

Under PEPFAR, USAID is maximizing their impact by making smart investments to reach those most at risk and in need, ultimately preventing millions of new HIV infections and saving millions of lives. USAID is using data to invest in evidence-based interventions in the geographic areas and populations with the greatest HIV/AIDS burden.
