The Locally Led Humanitarian Assistance Prize Competition aims to recognize transformative work and innovative practices in local leadership by women-led organizations (WLOs) and women’s rights organizations (WROs) working on humanitarian issues.
This prize competition is funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). It was designed and is being implemented in partnership with USAID’s Exploratory Programs and Innovation Competitions (EPIC) team and the Innovative Design, Execution and Acceleration Support (IDEAS) mechanism.
Prize Details
- This year, USAID/BHA is proud to offer one grand prize award of $250,000 USD and five additional prize awards worth $150,000 USD each.
Eligibility Criteria
- This year, the prize competition is recognizing locally led innovative approaches to humanitarian assistance by women-led organizations (WLOs) and women’s rights organizations (WROs) working on humanitarian issues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Guatemala, Haiti, Iraq, Mali and Ukraine.
- To apply, you must be a women-led and/or women’s rights organization that is operating in one of the six eligible countries and legally registered in one of these countries (unless you provide a strong justification as to why you could not register in an eligible country).
- You must have at least two years of humanitarian assistance experience, have an eligible payment method and have a Code of Conduct in place (or be willing to establish one).
- You must apply in an eligible language: English, French, Iraqi Arabic, Spanish or Ukrainian and provide the contact details of at least two references.
