Deadline: 9-November-2025
Each year, Delfina Foundation runs four three-month residency seasons. These residency seasons are dedicated to ‘open’ independent research or to ‘thematic’ collective research around a specific issue or idea. This residency will take place during the ‘open’ summer season 2026.
The residency offers practitioners time and space to develop their work while participating in a structured programme that fosters creative and professional growth. Residents will have opportunities to meet and engage with artists, curators, academics, and researchers through organised presentations, studio visits, events, and shared meals.
The programme also includes professional development activities such as presentations and crits, portfolio reviews, and mentoring sessions designed to strengthen artistic practice. Collaborative exchange among residents is encouraged through informal gatherings, alongside guided visits to museums, galleries, non-profits, artist-run spaces, and studios, with additional trips to institutions outside London.
The selected artist will receive full travel and living support for a 12-week residency at Delfina Foundation. This includes a return economy-class flight, airport transfers in the UK, reimbursement of visa fees if required, a living allowance of £40 per day, a materials budget of £1,200, and a local travel pass.
Accommodation will be provided in a single bedroom within the Delfina Foundation house, which hosts up to eight residents and includes shared facilities such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, a kitchen, library, and dining room.
Applicants must be currently living and working in Ecuador, be artists in the field of contemporary art, and be seeking an opportunity to develop their practice through research and access to resources.
They should also be able to explain how the experience of an international residency will benefit not only their individual practice but also their local networks. Proficiency in English is required, as the interview will be conducted in English and applicants are expected to confidently present and discuss their practice and ideas.
The application deadline is Sunday, 9 November 2025, at 23:59 GMT. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview by mid-December 2025, and all applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision by the end of December 2025.
