Deadline: 08-Jan-2026
The Delfina Foundation is pleased to announce an open call for their annual Brooks International Fellowship Programme, in partnership with Tate for international practitioners based outside of the UK, to be hosted in the Tate Modern Curatorial Division at Tate for six months in 2026.
The work will provide a critical reassessment of classical modernist histories of their international collection. The research will spotlight two groups of artworks focused on two issues: gender and queer ecologies and ecology of migrating identities.
The first, the Brooks International Fellowship 2026 in Tate Modern Curatorial Division, Gender and Queer Ecologies, runs from 22 June to 6 December 2026. It invites a Fellow to focus on works that engage with themes surrounding gender and queer ecologies, emphasising overlooked pieces and artists offering new interpretative perspectives.
The second fellowship, the Brooks International Fellowship 2026 in Tate Modern Curatorial Division, Ecology of Migrating Identities, also runs from 22 June to 6 December 2026. This Fellow will explore artworks connected to the ecology of migrating identities and the broader idea of transculturalism, re-examining the once-common term ‘émigré artists.’ The goal is to deepen understanding of displacement while broadening the framework for interpreting migration and identity in art.
Fellows will live at the Delfina Foundation in London and work at Tate Modern, with opportunities to collaborate across other Tate sites including Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, and Tate St Ives.
Accommodation includes a single bedroom within a shared residence offering communal facilities such as a kitchen, library, dining room, and laundry spaces. The fellowship includes a return economy-class flight, airport transfers, visa reimbursement if required, a living allowance bursary of £40 per day, and a London local travel pass.
The programme grants access to Tate’s collection, archives, staff, and networks, alongside participation in Delfina Foundation’s residency programme. Fellows will also have opportunities to present their research, contribute to institutional events, and collaborate with colleagues within the UK art sector. Applications close on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at 5 p.m. (17:00) GMT.
