Deadline: 30-Nov-2025
Applications are now open for the Gender Climate Award to recognize women who are driving bold, inclusive action for a sustainable future.
The Gender Climate Award 2026 seeks to promote inclusive and gender-responsive climate solutions across local, provincial, and national levels while encouraging women’s active participation and leadership in climate policy, planning, and governance.
It aims to highlight inspiring success stories that foster learning, action, and replication across sectors, thereby contributing to Pakistan’s national commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality and Climate Action, as well as the Climate Change Gender Action Plan (ccGAP).
The dynamic women of Pakistan are working across diverse fields, from civil society and academia to media, technology, innovation, and public policy. This award provides a platform for these women to showcase their achievements and share their impactful work with a broader audience. The initiative highlights the crucial role women play in addressing environmental challenges and driving sustainable solutions at various levels of society.
The Gender Climate Award 2026 features five categories of recognition: Women in Community Climate Action, Climate Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, Women in Climate Policy and Governance, Youth Climate Champion (Under 30), and Media and Storytelling for Climate Advocacy.
Through these categories, the award honors grassroots leaders, innovators, policymakers, young changemakers, and storytellers who contribute to advancing climate justice and environmental stewardship.
Two outstanding winners will each receive a cash prize of PKR 1 million. The recipients will also be asked to share a roadmap for utilizing the award money and provide activity updates that reflect how the prize supports and enhances their roles as agents of change.
Eligible candidates must have at least five years of documented experience and demonstrable impact in their respective areas of work. The award is open to women living and working across Pakistan, promoting nationwide diversity and inclusivity in recognizing climate leadership.
However, governmental initiatives and previous winners of the Gender Climate Award are not eligible for consideration. Applicants will be evaluated on several key criteria including Impact, Inclusion, Innovation, Scalability, and Sustainability. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2025.
