The Inclusion and Participation Division within the Community Services Directorate (CSD) has announced the availability of the 2020-21 ACT Youth InterACT Grant Program.
This grant program is a component of the ACT Government Youth InterACT initiative. The Youth InterACT Grant are based on youth participation and encouraging young people to develop, implement and facilitate youth focused projects in the ACT community.
Aims
- This grant program provides funding for innovative new projects that enable young people aged 12 – 25 years old to lead and participate in community development activities for other young people in Canberra and the region.
- The aim of the 2020-21 Youth InterACT Grant Program is to support young Canberrans to actively engage and connect with other young people in the community.
- Projects to be delivered within a 12 month period of applying for the grant.
- There are many ways that an activity, event or project can be facilitated.
- For instance:
- building supportive connections between community members using sport, recreation, cultural and creative activities and events;
- creating awareness of issues affecting young people;
- increasing opportunities for young people to participate in local community events, activities and youth related causes;
- recognising the contribution that young people make to their local communities.
Funding Criteria
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate how their activity, event or project increases young people’s social inclusion in Canberra.
- The Youth InterACT Grants will only be provided to eligible applicants whose proposal meet one or more of the following criteria:
- encourages a range of young people to get involved in their local community and increases their personal and professional development;
- provides safe, smoke, alcohol and drug free entertainment and recreational opportunities for young people in the ACT;
- involves young people at all levels of the organisation and management;
- supports and involves the local community;
- is led by young people, when an activity, event or project is supported by an organisation.
Funding Information
- The total of $25,000 (GST exclusive) is available in the 2020-21 funding round, with a grant of up to $2,000 per project available to eligible applicants.
- The grant is a one-off funding opportunity for eligible projects of up to 12 months in duration and is not intended as a recurring funding source.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be one of the following:-
- a not-for-profit incorporated association or company;
- a not-for-profit organisation with other legal status;
- a not-for-profit organisation in an auspice arrangement with one of the above;
- an ACT Government or Non-Government Educational Institute;
- a young person between 12-25 years of age who resides in the ACT or attends school in the ACT (includes tertiary institution).
- not have received a Youth InterACT Grant in the past two years for the same project.
- be implementing the activity, event or project in the ACT and be for the benefit of ACT residents between 12-25 years of age.
- have no overdue reporting obligations for any previous ACT Government grants including evaluations, acquittal reports and audited financial statements.
- Organisations that are not incorporated and do not have an Australian Business Number (ABN) must be auspiced by an incorporated entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- ACT Government and Non Government Educational institutions are not required to be auspiced by an incorporated entity, but must provide their institutions Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Only one application per eligible applicant/organisation/educational institute will be accepted.
- Individuals aged above 25 years, profit making groups, government entities (except for educational institutions), sub-contractors and registered political parties are not eligible to apply.
Assessment Criteria
All submissions will be assessed according to the 2020-21 Youth InterACT Grant Program Guidelines to ensure eligibility against the following criteria:
- The application demonstrates and addresses the aims of 2020-21 Youth InterACT Grant Program for projects that:
- encourages a range of young people to get involved in their local community and increases their personal and professional development;
- provides safe, smoke, alcohol and drug free entertainment and recreational opportunities for young people in the ACT;
- involves young people at all levels of organisation and management;
- supports and involves the local community; and
- is led by young people, when an activity, event or project is supported by an organisation.
- Capacity – the application demonstrates that the organisation/individual has the capacity to deliver the activity, event or project and manage the funding.
- Community building/partnerships – where appropriate the application outlines how the activity, event or project will partner with another organisation to deliver the project aims.
- Budget – the budget is realistic and clearly details all the expenditure for the project and demonstrates value for money.
