The Madiro has launched its annual round of grants to support initiatives aimed at improving health.
These grants will fund organizations who work to meet the health needs of unserved or underserved communities on the African continent.
Projects must focus on mother-child health and/or pediatric health. Successful projects should showcase a direct positive impact on the physical and/or mental health of the organization’s beneficiaries.
Funding Information
Madiro is offering one CA$75,000 grant and one CA$50,000 grant.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for funding, an organization must meet all the following criteria:
- Mandate: The principal mandate of the organization should be to promote mother-child health or pediatric health, specifically for low-resource communities, marginalized communities, or populations facing health inequalities.
- Geography: The project must be focused on helping mothers and children on the African continent. Applicants incorporated in Africa will be preferred
- Type of organization: The applicant must be a non-for-profit organization, a charity, a social enterprise, or a community-based organization that is incorporated and able to receive and administer funding. Research/academic institutions and government entities will not be considered.
- Years of operation: The organization must have been in operation for a minimum of two year, prior to this funding opportunity.
- Staff: The organization must have the equivalent of at least two (2)full-time staff, whether employees and/or volunteers, who will be involved in carrying out the project.
