The King Baudouin Foundation is seeking applications for its Alcuin Educational Fund to support initiatives on the ground that are likely to meet the range of current educational needs of children in Belgium and Europe.
Such projects are open in their approach and teaching methods and are available to everyone. They are led by men and women who want to build a more humane society, “so that not-for-profit teaching establishments develop that welcome everyone, are of high quality and have varied teaching methods whilst remaining affordable for as many pupils and students as possible”.
Grant Information
The financial support from the Alcuin educational Funds starts at € 3000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The application form must be:
- Completed in the same language as the application form
- Duly completed and typewritten
- The project sponsor/managing body:
- Must be 18 years old or over
- May be a not-for-profit association, foundation, school, university or higher educational body or any other organisation whose statuary objective is essentially educational
- May not be an individual
- Must be independent of other large establishments or organisations
- Should be active in the area of youth education, in particular but not exclusively in the field of schooling
- Must agree to receive financial support only after the effective opening of its educational structure if it is a new establishment that is being set up.
- The project is/will be:
- Targeted at children and/or young people aged 2 to 30 years old
- Located in Belgium or in a country within Europe
- A non-commercial project of public interest
- Aimed at providing high quality education with a range of pedagogical approaches in order to meet the needs of children and young people with varied skills and aspirations
- Will provide adequate human resources and material to meet the project objectives
- Active in the field of educating young people, and in particular that of primary school, secondary school or higher education
- Must be affordable to the greatest possible number of pupils/students and implement a social policy that benefits at least a minimum quota of disadvantaged children and young people
- Must foresee a realistic and clearly detailed budget (which describes precisely how the financial support requested will be allocated)
- Must not foresee relying only on financial support from the Alcuin Fund, but must have established partnerships with other institutions or private benefactors to secure the necessary funds.
