Deadline: 20-Nov-23
The Freelands Foundation is offering grants to support visual art organisations working on projects to support and empower school teachers.
The Freelands Foundation works to broaden access to art education and the visual arts across the UK. Through the education programmes, they work with teachers and educators to develop diverse and ambitious approaches to art education and support teaching as artistic practice.
Funding Information
- Organisations or consortiums (groups of organisations) can apply for between £50,000 and £150,000 per year, for up to three years.
Eligible Projects
- The Autumn 2023 Fund looks to support organisations delivering bold and innovative projects that build collaborative relationships between schools and visual art organisations. They are looking for projects that centre teachers in creative approaches to art education that inspire and engage young people.
- Bold and innovative
- They’re looking for projects that challenge existing frameworks and take radical action to reimagine how museums and galleries collaborate with teachers. Your project might be brand new, still in research stages, or primed to begin delivery, but will represent a transformation in how arts organisations usually work with teachers and schools.
- Collaborative relationships
- They’re interested in projects that build deep relationships where teachers, schools and art organisations exchange ideas and expertise, and grow together as partners in creating and delivering engaging art education programmes.
- Centre teachers
- They’re looking to support projects that provide empowering opportunities for teachers to develop and share their creative and educational practices. They’re interested in organisations that value the expertise of teachers, understand the challenges they currently face, and place them at the centre of the project’s development and delivery.
- Creative approaches
- They’re looking for projects that embrace the power of experimentation and exploration when teaching art. They aim to push the boundaries of art education in galleries and schools, and they want to understand how your approach supports ambitious and original creative teaching and learning practices.
- Bold and innovative
