Nillumbik Shire Council grants aim to support projects that will create community partnerships, encourage the sharing of resources, respond to community needs and have a lasting impact beyond the life of the grant.
The Nillumbik Shire Council’s Community Fund will provide grant funding to not-for-profit community groups or organisations that live, work, study, volunteer or play in Nillumbik for community projects undertaken in 2020/21.
The Nillumbik Community Fund provides Council with the opportunity to support community projects that reflect and promote objectives from both the Council Plan 2017-21 and the Health and Wellbeing Plan 2017-21.
Council Plan 2017-21 objectives:
- Engaged, connected communities
- Active and creative people
- Safe and healthy environments
- A prosperous economy
- Responsible leadership
Health and Wellbeing Plan 2017-21 objectives:
- Healthy eating and sustainable food
- Active living
- Mental wellbeing
- Gender equality and respectful relationships
- Preventing harm from alcohol, other drugs and gambling
- Improving sexual and reproductive health
- Healthy ageing
Council Grants for a variety of projects are available:
- Community Support Grant (Community, Indigenous and Youth) – Funding a variety of community, indigenous or youth projects to support local community groups to enhance and strengthen their own neighbourhoods and townships.
- Arts and Cultural Development Grant – Funding to support artists and local community groups to enhance and strengthen their own neighbourhoods and townships through arts and cultural initiatives.
- Community Event Grant – Funding to assist organisers with the delivery of events that are fun, safe, accessible and inclusive for all.
- Quick Response grant – Small grants of up to $500 to support community groups and organisations with emerging or unexpected needs and opportunities.
Funding Information
The Nillumbik Community Fund provides funding under the four following grants:
- Quick Response Grant Up to $500
- Community Support Grant Up to $3000
- (Community, Youth and Indigenous)
- Arts and Cultural Development Grant Up to $5000
- Community Event Grant No set limit
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for all Nillumbik Community Fund grant categories, applicants MUST:
- Be a not-for-profit incorporated organisation or an incorporated community group that lives, works, studies, volunteers or plays in Nillumbik
- Be auspiced by a not-for-profit incorporated organisation if applicants are unincorporated, an individual or a commercial business. Organisations can auspice multiple applications. You must ensure the auspice is aware of all of their responsibilities as an auspice.
- Hold a minimum of $10 million public liability insurance
- Have satisfactorily acquitted all outstanding grants previously awarded by Nillumbik Shire Council
- Projects must be delivered and funds spent by 30 June 2021
