The City of Melville is inviting applications for My Community Grants to empower their communities to be resilient into the future.
Objectives

The objectives of the program are to:
- Support community-driven initiatives
- Contribute to the City's neighborhood and economic hubs by supporting local champions to run projects that activate places
- Encourage participation in community life
- Support projects that foster inclusion of the diverse community
Program Focus and Areas of Priority

The City of Melville welcomes applications for proposals i.e. activities, events, services that:
- are based in the City of Melville
- benefit a large and diverse number of people
- respond to the criteria set out in the Guidelines
- are aligned to the My Community Grants objectives
- observe access and inclusion principles
- create social and cultural or economic value for the community
- have clear objectives and outcomes
- have a realistic budget and are cost-effective
- demonstrate a high level of self-help and involvement of your organization’s members

- Activate: Building community connections through activating places and supporting creativity in community life
- Thrive: Building capacity and capability for organizational sustainability
Funding Information
- Total funding pool $140,000
- Incorporated groups: $5,000
- Unincorporated groups: $2,000
- Creative professionals: $3,000
- Small businesses: $5,000 (matched funding, financial or in-kind, for businesses looking to activate their local economic hub)
Eligibility Criteria
- Not-for-profit organizations.
- Community groups.
- Small businesses are able to match the City’s funding in cash or in-kind.
- Businesses and creative professionals wishing to make business adaptations due to COVID-19 impacts.
- Artists and creative professionals based in the City of Melville and proposing community-based projects or projects with clear community benefit.
- Applicants with outstanding acquittals to the City of Melville are not eligible.
- Applicants can apply to each category once per year.
- Projects must be based in the City of Melville.
- There can only be one application per project.
- Political parties
- Religious practice
- General donations to charities, unless for specific projects run by the charity and that meet the eligibility criteria
- Government agencies
- Education institutions
- Previous grant recipients who have not fulfilled the conditions of their grant
- Employees or elected members of the City of Melville
- Annual events, unless there is a plan for financial sustainability over a three year period
- Recurrent operating costs
- Proposals that directly contravene Council’s policies.
