The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants program funded by the Australian Government.
Thematic Areas
- They’re particularly focused on the following thematic areas:
- Gender equality, disability and social inclusion programs – including youth engagement, child protection, and the development of education and skills
- Public health activities – including health promotion, water and sanitation, and prevention of non-communicable diseases
- Climate change mitigation, disaster risk reduction and environmental management – including agricultural and rural development
- Cultural preservation and promotion
- They will prioritise projects addressing the needs of women, children, people with disabilities and people in poverty, especially where they are affected by hardship or inequality. They will also favourably consider projects in RMI’s neighbouring islands.
Funding Information
- It provides up to USD20,000 per grant.
Eligible Criteria
- Individuals, government agencies, and non-government organisations are eligible to apply.
- They’re looking for projects that deliver solid development outcomes for communities in the Marshall Islands.
Ineligibility Criteria
- These things cannot be funded by DAP:
- The purchase of consumer electronics (e.g. laptops, desktop computers, printers)
- Administrative expenses including office rental, utility costs, spare parts, routine maintenance
- Staff salaries, stipends, consultant fees, allowances / per diems, accommodation
- Purchase of vehicles (except for vital medical or farm purposes) or their operating costs (i.e., no gasoline/petrol or maintenance costs can be funded.)
- International/domestic travel or international study tours of any kind
- Meetings, seminars, conferences including related costs
