Applications are now open for the Baltimore Nonprofit Relief Fund to provide a helping hand to neighbors experiencing homelessness, nonprofit organizations play a critical role in helping Baltimore residents build a good life.
Nonprofits in Baltimore have continued to provide crucial services throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and many will continue to experience negative financial impacts to their core operations and services due to the public health emergency.
Funding Information
- The new round of the Baltimore Nonprofit Relief Fund provides up to $50,000 for tax-exempt organizations located in Baltimore City.
- Grant funds can be used for future needs and to address the effects of COVID-19 and mitigate its negative economic impacts.
- Unlike the prior round of the Nonprofit Relief Fund, which was reimbursement-only, this opportunity allows organizations to apply for support for both past expenditures and future projected needs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, your organization must meet each of the following criteria. Your organization:
- Is an IRS-designated tax-exempt organization or your organization is fiscally sponsored by a tax-exempt organization as designated in your IRS Determination letter.
- Was founded on or before January 1, 2019.
- Has an address within Baltimore City limit and provides services to benefit Baltimore City residents.
- Can provide one year of financials (Requests $10,000 and below: Most recent IRS 990 filing; Requests between $10,001 and $50,000: Most recent independent audit)
- Can confirm its status as a “Good Standing” organization with the State of Maryland by producing a Certificate of Good Standing with the State of Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.
- organizations fiscally sponsored by tax exempt organizations can apply for the Nonprofit Relief Fund under their fiscal sponsor’s tax-exempt status. A current fiscal sponsorship agreement should be included for fiscally sponsored program. Applicants will include their fiscal sponsor’s audited financials, but they would need the applying organization’s specific programmatic budget as the uploaded Budget attachment.
