Applications are invited for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Project Grant that support people of any age who experience mental ill health.
There are three strands of Henry Duncan Grants:
- Organisation Grants will fund charities which have a core aim of supporting people who experience mental ill health.
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Project Grants will fund charities running projects which aim to support people who experience mental ill health.
- Micro Grants will fund small charities and voluntary groups which deliver activities to improve mental health and wellbeing. Activity will have a focus on reducing isolation and loneliness by supporting people to be connected. It will work within communities experiencing disadvantage, including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and rural communities.
All three strands will support work aimed towards people of any age, including children and young people.

- The maximum in any one year is £8,000.
What type of work can Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Project Grants support?
Henry Duncan Grants should enable organisations to deliver support that makes a real difference to people’s lives. This might be by continuing existing, tried and tested work or by trying out new approaches. Corra will want to hear about the difference the money will make and how people’s lives will be better as a result.
During 2021 Corra will fund charities delivering projects supporting people experiencing mental ill health.
The work being carried out by charities may include activities such as:
- Activities focused on dealing with the impact of racism, discrimination and inequalities on mental health.
- Activities designed to help improve life skills and life chances.
- Activities focused on health improvement, resilience building and self-management of health conditions e.g. depression, anxiety, maternal and postnatal health.
- Therapeutic interventions such as gardening, art, writing and music.
- Activities designed to support social inclusion, reduce loneliness and build confidence
- Information, advice, and advocacy e.g. mental ill health awareness sessions.
- Culturally appropriate mental health services e.g., Counselling, talking therapies.
- Peer support.
- Crisis support/intervention.
- Recovery focused activities e.g., trauma informed, bereavement services.
- Development of positive partnership working initiatives to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
Eligibility Criteria
Charities that:
- Are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic led (at least 70% of Board and 50% of staff are from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background).
- Will deliver a project supporting people from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background who are experiencing mental ill health5.
- Are operating in Scotland.
- Have an annual income of up to £500,000.
Please apply for a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Grant if your charity:
- is a registered charity with annual income up to £500,000, and is operating in Scotland.
- is Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic led (at least 70% of Board and 50% of staff are from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background).
- Will deliver a project supporting people from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background who are experiencing mental ill health.
