The U.S. Embassy in Cameroon has announced an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support Cameroon’s COVID-19 response, focusing on increasing awareness, motivating informed and constructive action, supporting frontline medical workers, and/or countering misinformation.
Objectives
Program Objectives (must include one or more):
- Improve awareness of COVID-19 and its risks in Cameroon, and access to relevant data analysis
- Combat misinformation about the disease and available treatments
- Encourage individuals to take measures to prevent transmission of the virus
- Counter stigmatization of people affected by COVID-19
- Support the capacity of health workers to respond to COVID-19 and strengthen public trust in health providers
Priority Regions
Projects to benefit areas most affected by COVID-19 may be given stronger consideration, as well as projects to benefit areas outside of Yaounde and Douala which have as yet a less robust COVID-19 response capacity. The areas most affected by COVID-19 at the time of publishing this notice are, in descending order: Center, Littoral, East, West, Southwest, and Northwest.
Funding Information
- Awards may range from a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $40,000
- Total potentially available funding: $50,000
- Length of performance period: 6 to 9 months
Funding Restrictions
Funds cannot be used to pay for media coverage or for alcoholic beverages.
Eligibility Criteria
PAS encourages applications from the United States and Cameroon:
- Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks, community associations, and civil society/non-governmental organizations with programming experience
- Individuals
- Non-profit media organizations
- Professional trade organizations
- Non-profit or governmental educational institutions For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
Evaluation Criteria
- Organizational capacity: The organization has expertise in its stated field and PAS is confident of its ability to undertake the program. This includes a financial management system appropriate to the amount of funding being requested and a bank account.
- Quality and feasibility of the program idea: The program idea is well developed, with detail about how program activities will be carried out. The proposal includes a reasonable implementation timeline.
- Goals and objectives: Goals and objectives are clear, realistic, and measurable, and program approach is likely to provide maximum impact in achieving the proposed results.
- Embassy priorities: Applicant has clearly described how stated goals are related to and support U.S. Embassy Yaoundé’s priority program areas and/or target audiences.
- Budget: The budget justification is detailed. Costs are reasonable in relation to the proposed activities and anticipated results. The budget is realistic, accounting for all necessary expenses to achieve proposed activities.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Applicant demonstrates ability to measure program success against key indicators and provide milestones to indicate progress toward goals outlined in the proposal. The program includes output and outcome indicators, and shows how and when those will be measured.
- Sustainability: Program activities will continue to have positive impact after the end of the program.
