The Bury Council has launched the applications for Health Improvement Community Fund to support local people and communities to recover from the coronavirus pandemic as they start to build back better and learn to live with the virus for the foreseeable future.
It is part of a wider borough-wide programme that will support the future health, wellbeing, and resilience of their communities.
Which projects or activities will be prioritised for funding?
Precedence will be given to funding applications which can demonstrate they support one or more of the following target audiences.
- Young people, particularly those aged 16 to 24.
- Residents and families with young children, and particularly those aged 0 to 4.
- BAME residents overall, but Asian residents in particular.
- Muslim residents and those for whom English is not their first language.
- Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) people.
- Carers and residents where someone in their household has been told they are at high risk from COVID.
- Those living with a disability or long term health condition.
- Residents that have served in the armed forces.
- Those living in the ‘most deprived’ communities in Bury.
Funding Information
- Grants of up to £5,000 or £20,000 can be applied for, depending on how many localities the project or activity will be delivered within.
- Up to £5,000 for projects to be delivered within one locality.
- Up to £5,000 per locality for projects to be delivered in two localities (a separate application must be submitted for each locality).
- Up to £20,000 for projects to be delivered across three or more localities (apply in one application).
Eligibility Criteria
- Projects or activities that will be delivered within the Borough of Bury that:
- encourage and support people to make healthier choices and lead healthy lifestyles;
- enable as many people as possible to get ‘out and about’ walking and exercising;
- inspire people to enjoy the outdoors and Bury’s green and open spaces;
- bring communities together and support positive mental health and wellbeing;
- support Bury people to recover from the longer-term effects of Covid; or
- reduce inequalities and support communities and groups hardest hit by the pandemic.
- Applications are welcome from the following supporting people and communities within the Borough of Bury.
- Community groups.
- Charities.
- Social enterprises.
- Voluntary groups.
- Clubs and societies.
- Schools.
