The Community Foundation of Greene County (CFGC) is pleased to announce the Community Grants Program.
Focus Areas
Recognizing that community life can be enhanced or improved in many different ways, CFGC supports projects and programs that improve the quality of life in Greene County, PA through:
- Animal welfare, agricultural, horticultural, environmental protection and/or beautification.
- Arts, culture and humanities.
- Community and economic development for public and societal benefit.
- Education and literacy.
- Environment.
- Health, fitness and safety.
- Human needs.
Type of Funds
There are two primary types of funds to choose from: Permanent and Non-Permanent.
- Permanent Funds
- Endowment funds are permanent and are intended to benefit Greene County forever.
- Fees for Permanent Funds typically are set at 1% of the average value of the fund. Scholarship Funds are charged an additional 1% (total 2%).
- A nominal fee is extracted from the interest generated from fund investments. This fee helps to cover administrative and management costs for the Community Foundation.
- Non-Permanent Funds
- Non-permanent funds are intended to fulfill a specific, short-term need.
- Fees for Non-Permanent Funds typically range from 2% to 5% of the average annual value depending on various factors. Please contact the Foundation to discuss in more detail.
- A nominal fee is extracted from the interest generated from fund investments. This fee helps to cover administrative and management costs for the Community Foundation.
Funding Information
- The Community Grant award does not exceed $2,000.
Consideration
The Foundation will give preference to proposals which:
- Have an identifiable and measurable impact upon the Greene County community.
- Promote cooperation among existing agencies.
- Avoid program duplication.
- Improve upon the effectiveness of existing organizations.
- Incorporate preventive and/or curative approaches to addressing significant community problems.
- Have multiple funding sources and can leverage other financial sources.
- Utilize volunteers effectively.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants must be nonprofit, charitable (recognized as Exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), tax-exempt organizations whose purposes and programs benefit Greene County residents. Eligible applicants also include schools, churches, support organizations to schools, governmental units, and other publicly supported organizations.
