APPRISE has received $2M funding from the Paul Ramsay Foundation for research into the preparedness for and impacts of COVID-19 on First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) people and communities in Australia.
First Nations governance has been established to oversee and centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and priorities in the grant call and review process and to increase the leadership of First Nations people in the COVID-19 response.

Applications are encouraged for projects relating to a wide spectrum of research domains, including (but not limited to):
- Pandemic preparedness
- Basic science
- Social research
- Health services research
- Clinical care and management
Applications led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be prioritised, and are welcome from both established and emerging researchers and health practitioners. Project teams are expected to have at least 50% First Nations members.

Project proposals for larger projects ($250-400k) and smaller projects ($20-100k) are welcome. Any salary costs should be directly related to the proposed research activities.
