The Foundation Scotland is pleased to announce the Cambusbarron Community Fund to support community projects benefiting those living in the Cambusbarron Community Council area in Stirling local authority.
The fund is provided by Nadara, which owns Earlsburn Wind Energy Limited (Earlsburn Wind Farm) and Kingsburn Wind Energy Limited (Kingsburn Wind Farm);
Purpose
- Applications should usually be linked to priorities identified in the Cambusbarron Community Action Plan. These include:
- Schemes or activities which protect, conserve or improve the environment.
- Schemes or activities which promote rural regeneration though increasing opportunities for local enterprise and vocational training.
- The development and improvement of infrastructure including transport, broadband, community-owned property and access routes.
- Proposals which seek to maintain, improve or expand community services and facilities, including health, welfare and education, particularly with regard to young people and the elderly.
- The development and improvement of community facilities and activities, including the arts, heritage, culture and science.
- The development and improvement of leisure/sport facilities and activities and tourism opportunities.
- Activities which support capacity building for new and existing community organisations, in particular to help promote citizenship and community development.
Funding Information
- An annual amount of £28,000, inflation-adjusted, will be paid into the fund each year for the operating life of the wind farms.
- Grant size: £500 – £10,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Groups and organisations working to benefit people in Cambusbarron can apply.
- Applications from groups/organisations located out with the fund area will be considered on a case-by-case basis but must demonstrate a clear benefit for residents within the fund area.
- A group will generally only be awarded a main grant up to once in any 12-month period.
- Management Committee
- There must be a minimum of three unrelated persons on the management committee or Board. This is to ensure that the group has a range of perspectives and experiences and is not dominated by the interests of a single family or similarly connected individuals.
- For the same reasons, the majority of your management committee or Board members must be unrelated.
- Accounts & Financial Procedures
- You must be able to supply your latest set of approved accounts, unless your organisation is less than 18 months old, in which case no accounts are required.
- For all constituted groups these will need to have been approved by your management committee or Board.
- For registered charities, accounts must be prepared and scrutinised in accordance with the requirements of Office Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
- You must have your own bank account
- The organisation name on your accounts must match the name on the governing document and bank account.
Ineligibility Criteria
- They cannot fund the following:
- Non constituted groups.
- Applications from individuals. However, individuals may be able to apply for funding under any micro-grant scheme associated with a fund, or under some education and training funds.
- General fundraising appeals or activities.
- Trips abroad.
- Costs already incurred or activities which will take place before they’ve decided on an application, i.e. retrospective funding.
- The repayment of loans or payment of debts.
