The Department of Sport Recreation Arts and Culture (DSRAC) in the Eastern Cape Province hereby invites proposals from existing community-based arts and cultural festivals within the province for partial financial support for a period of two (2) years.
This Initiative forms part of the Department’s continued efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable local creative industries with a particular emphasis on job creation social cohesion, and the Integration of local artists into the mainstream economy.
Funding Information
- A total of five (5) qualifying festivals will each receive financial support of R200,000.00 per annum each.
Eligibility Criteria
- Festivals Must:
- Uplift local talent and provide inclusive platforms for community participation, including women. persons with disabilities. and youth.
- Promote cultural diversity and social Inclusion. while generating job opportunities and local economic activity.
- Be community-initiated and culture-based and implemented with the Eastern Cape.
- Be Implemented by Individuals or organizations residing in of originating from the Eastern Cape, with a proven track record of organizing events or festivals.
- Have existed fora minimum of three (3) consecutive years.
- Align, clearly with the mandate of the Department in the arts. culture, and heritage sectors.
- Demonstrate potential for scalability and sustainability and contribute meaningfully to local economic development.
- South African citizens who are tax compliant, residing it arc Eastern Cape or organizations/enterprises with a focus on arts and culture.
- Applicant must demonstrate the ability to leverage additional funding. as support is partial.
- Must have a proven record of contributing to the creative industries through talent development or providing platforms for artists.
- Only one application per individual or organization is permitted per funding cycle.
- Applicants must declare any existing partnerships of Involvement with amen’ Departmental programmes.
- Must have not received similar support in the past 2 years from OSMC.
Disqualifying Factors
- Applications will be automatically disqualified if they:
- Are submitted by current government mployess, or employees who have recently resigned or retiried fromt he departmnet.
- Contain false, misleading or incomplete information.
- Are incomplete, missing required proposal or compliance documentation.
- Fail to declare any conflict of inerset.
- Propose projects that fall outside the scope of the call (e.g, beauty pageants, modelling competitons, film production/post-production).
- Are submitted after the closing date or are submitted by government employees or their immediate families.
- Are from non-South African citizens, or orgranisation outside the Eastern Cape.
