Deadline: 28-Apr-23
The Woodsmith Foundation is seeking applications for Challenge Fund: Employment and Skills to support the development of key growth sectors, supporting new businesses and connecting people to employment opportunities.
Woodsmith Foundation have come together to create a joint Employment and Skills Challenge Fund to offer resources to local organisations who make, or want to make, a difference in these areas of work:
- supporting people in their area of benefit into jobs
- helping people start their own business
- addressing a skills shortage
Funding Information
- They have a total Challenge Fund pot of up to £250,000 that they may consider investing and they are open to discussion about projects timescales.
They are looking for?
- Projects that know a cohort of people they could make a difference for if they had the resources to help them achieve their employment ambitions. You will already know most of the cohort.
- Projects that thoroughly understand a key sector of the economy, know where the skills gaps are, and have a solution to fill those skills gaps or hard to recruit positions.
Who they want to work with
- They will fund organisations that understand their area of benefit and know either the people they want to help locally, or the jobs that need filling. The Woodsmith Foundation can only fund charitable organisations (e.g. a registered charity, a CIC limited by guarantee or a not for profit community group). Anglo American Crop Nutrients have more flexibility, so between us they welcome applications from any organisations who believes they have the experience, knowledge and local connections to deliver a successful project.
They are not looking for?
- Projects that will advertise for people to join a general employability support programme.
- Projects that are training people to fill jobs that do not exist in their area or are in decline.
- Projects supporting people furthest from the labour market to move closer to being able to find a job.
