Submissions are now open for Circle of Support, the grant competition for women’s/feminist organizations, to strengthen existing and create new support systems for women from vulnerable groups in war conditions.
Being a woman today is about being strong, overcoming pain and anxiety, finding meaning where it is sometimes impossible to find, reviving and moving on.
With each upheaval, there is a growing need to support each other in this struggle for the country, for the children, for the future, and especially for themselves.
It is planned to support the initiatives of women’s/feminist organizations, which will provide psychological help, as well as innovative strategies for providing other types of support to vulnerable groups of women, in particular, wives/relatives of military personnel, women who have lost loved ones in the war, those who are waiting for relatives from captivity, women- IDPs from cities that suffered significant destruction, etc.
Priorities
- Priority 1: Creation of new and support of existing mutual support groups for women.
- It is planned to support the projects of organizations that have a developed methodology of psychological support for vulnerable groups of women and previous experience of working with such groups.
- The measures envisaged by the project cannot be limited to a one-time activity, they must be comprehensive, permanent and aimed at systemic impact.
- Priority 2: Innovative strategies of women’s/feminist organizations to support vulnerable groups of women in war.
- As part of the competition, the UZHF is looking for work formats of women’s/feminist organizations different from psychological support to support women from vulnerable groups.
- Projects may include, but are not limited to: legal support, promote the reunification of mothers and children, include educational programs that will help reintegrate and recover from traumatic experiences, group consultations of doctors, creative activities, etc.
- In both directions, preference will be given to projects that involve working with women from groups with multiple vulnerabilities (LGBTQI+, HIV-positive, women with disabilities, women living in rural areas and small communities, elderly women, etc.).
Funding Information
- The maximum amount of the grant is UAH 560,000.
- Project implementation period: 12 months
Eligibility Criteria
- Women’s/feminist organizations from all regions of Ukraine, which have a clear focus (according to the charter) on protecting women’s rights and promoting gender equality, and are not connected to state institutions and political parties, can participate in the competition.
- It is assumed that the applicant organization, which assumes responsibility for the administration of the grant, has at least two years of experience.
- Professional women’s associations are not considered women’s organizations unless they demonstrate that they adhere to feminist principles and, in addition to providing services to women, advance their rights.
Ineligible
- As part of the competition, the following will not be supported:
- providing incentives to civil servants; support of political parties; initiatives aimed at supporting professional associations of women (such as entrepreneurs, teachers) and are not feminist; initiatives that harm the environment.
