The Longford County Council is making a small grant programme available to those interested in organising Culture Night event in County Longford.
Culture Night is supported by the Arts Council and local authorities across the island of Ireland. All activities are made available to the public free of charge.
Event Areas
- Event areas of particular interest include:
- Heritage events promoting County Longford’s natural, built and cultural heritage
- Events celebrating new communities and underrepresented voices, including those which connect artists from marginalised backgrounds and showcase County Longford’s culturally diverse communities including asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, D/deaf culture or arts and disability, Irish Traveller culture, events promoting gender equality, and under-represented groups
- Events organised by or in collaboration with young people.
Funding Information
- Small grants of up to €1000 are available to help with the costs associated with staging a Culture Night 2025 event.
Type of Events and Activities
- Those that celebrate the value that art, culture and creativity bring to the lives and provide a platform and exposure for cultural organisations, activities, facilities and community groups. This could include keeping a venue or organisation open which may otherwise have been closed at that time of day.
- It may also include creating an event that reminds them all about the fantastic local cultural facilities and resources that they can experience year-round.
Who can apply for funding and what is funded?
- Artists, creatives, not-for-profit organisations, local community groups, arts, heritage and cultural groups, venues, and/or societies based in County Longford can apply for a grant to support a Culture Night event.
- The grant may cover costs, such as venue rental, publicity, artists and materials.
- All events must:
- Be free
- Be registered through Longford Arts Service and uploaded to CultureNight.ie
- Embrace the Arts Council’s Pay the Artist policy and ensure that all engaged artists and practitioners are paid (unless participating in a voluntary capacity or as part of a community group).
- Be open to all and seek to create a sense of community and belonging.
