The UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) is currently seeking applications for its programme- Improving the Health of Vulnerable Groups Research Programme Consortia in LMICs.
DFID is looking for multi-disciplinary research that will build upon the existing evidence base and provide new knowledge with practical relevance to decision makers in the field in low and middle income countries.
Research Areas
It is expected that collectively the research programmes will provide critical new knowledge on:
- Mental health
- Maternal, newborn and child health (including stillbirths)
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights (including safe abortion)
Funding Information
It is anticipated at least three contracts will be awarded, each with a value of £6m – £8m.
Eligibility Criteria
- The research should ideally address a number of core themes including value for money of interventions, and building evidence on interventions in a range of contexts including (but not limited to) fragile and conflict affected states.
- Proposals should take account of DFID’s approach to public health and health systems, outlined in the Health Position Paper which stresses that the health system goes beyond the health sector and beyond the public sector.
