The East End Community Foundation has announced two funding streams for NGOs to support positive community activities across their geographic areas of benefit.
Through their grant making, they aim to fund high quality projects or services that will make a positive and long-lasting difference to local residents.
EECF recognises the profound and far-reaching impact of the coronavirus pandemic on local communities. Organisations are actively encouraged to submit ideas for projects and activities that respond to the specific needs that they have identified in relation to employment, education & learning and wellbeing & inclusion for local residents.
EECF has two funding streams available, the Isle of Dogs Grants Chest and the Millwall Park Endowment Fund.
- Organisations can apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for summer holiday activities for children and young people through the Isle of Dogs Chest.
- Organisations can apply for a grant of up to £10,000 either through the Isle of Dogs Grants Chest or the Millwall Park Endowment Fund.

- Summer Holiday Grants:
- Priority will be given to those that are catering for larger numbers of children and/or young people aged 6-21 and those that offer at least one of the following:
- Accredited training activities
- Deliver sports/healthy lifestyle activities to improve health and wellbeing
- Activities that have been designed in consultation with children and young people
- Provide weekend and/or evening provision for older young people
- Isle of Dogs Chest Grants
- The Isle of Dogs Grants Chest will support projects or organisations that are dealing with an identified issue. For example, this could be related to reducing poverty, increasing skills and learning, improving employability, addressing digital exclusion, improving mental or physical health, reducing discrimination, supporting people affected by domestic violence, reducing young people’s involvement in crime and anti-social behaviour, or any other identifiable issue that affects people’s ability to access opportunities.
- Summer Holiday Grants:
- Millwall Park Endowment Fund
- Grants awarded can be used to support the following elements:
- Revenue and/or capital expenditure
- Purposes that encourage more use of Millwall Park and its facilities
- Projects that provide new amenities for the benefit of Millwall Park users
- Environmental, sports, recreational or leisure projects
- Projects that discourage anti-social behaviour/reduce crime around Millwall Park
- Projects that provide extra facilities or services for young people who use or live close to Millwall Park Activities that will address issues of diversity by encouraging integration of all sectors of the local community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply to either the Isle of Dogs Grants Chest or the Millwall Park Endowment Fund, organisations must:
- Be based within and/or strongly connected with and meeting the needs of the local community in the restricted geographical area
- be a not-for-profit organisation that is formally constituted i.e. have a signed governing document in the group’s name. This includes unincorporated associations and community groups, registered charities, social enterprises, schools, Community Interest Companies (CIC), Charitable Incorporated Organisations(CIO), companieslimited by guarantee and faith groups where the project clearly does not promote a particular religious or political view.
- have good financial management procedures, including annual accounts or a formal record of income and expenditure
- have a bank account in the name of the group, with at least two unrelated cheque signatories
- have at least two unrelated management committee members if you are an unincorporated organisation or voluntary group
- have a safeguarding policy in place if working with young people and children under the age of 18 or vulnerable adults, where applicable.
- They would like to support a variety of activities that reach a wide community audience including Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) residents, people with disabilities, learning disabled people, Gypsies and Travellers, LGBTQIA+ residents, children and young people, older people and people with mental health issues or long-term health issues.
- EECF’s funding is targeted at smaller locally based organisations, with a turnover of under £1.5 million.
- Applications from organisations based in the restricted geographical areas with an income of under £1.5 million will be prioritised. Applications from organisations that have a financial deficit will not be considered.
