The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is accepting applications for the Engagement of CSOs Women Leadership Program to enhance women’s representation in local government elections by identifying and empowering aspiring women leaders within the selected district.
The “Strengthening People-Centric and Inclusive Access to Justice in Bhutan” project is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing access to justice and promoting a rights-based approach within the justice sector and civil society.
Scope and Objective
- The establishment of a network of women leaders and aspiring leaders, along with building their leadership capabilities, is one of the key activities contributing to enhanced civic engagement and democratic governance. The selected CSO will work in close collaboration with UNDP and National Commission for Women and Children Secretariat (NCWCS) to implement, “establishment of network of women leaders and aspiring leaders
- The primary objective of the assignment aims to enhance women’s representation in local government elections by identifying and empowering aspiring women leaders within the selected district.
- Identification of Aspiring Women Leaders: Identify and engage potential women leaders who are interested in participating in local government election.
- Capacity Building: Develop and implement training programs aimed at building the leadership skills and capabilities of these women, thereby preparing them for active participation in elections.
- Establishment of a Women Leaders Network: Create a supportive network for women leaders and aspiring leaders to facilitate knowledge sharing, mentorship, and collaboration.
Funding Information
- Total budget: USD 60,000 for three years ($ 25,000 for Year 1; $ 25000 for Year 2; $ 10,000 for Year 3)
Expected Deliverables
- The UNDP seeks to engage with eligible CSOs to implement the activity and closely collaborate with UNDP to fulfill the outlined deliverables.
- Laise with the NCWCS and relevant focal points at the district level
- Conduct community awareness program in three regions
- Identify and mobilize aspiring women leaders
- Conduct training of aspiring women leaders based on curriculum/modules prepared in collaboration with the NCWCS and relevant agencies/expertise
- Establishment of the network of women leaders with representatives from the women leaders and aspiring leaders.
Eligibility Criteria
- The assignment will be undertaken in the target three districts – Samtse, Chukha and Trongsa.
- The CSO must have the following minimum eligibility and qualification criteria:
- Legally registered as a civil society organization, non-governmental, non-profit, nonpolitical organization in Bhutan; valid registration with Civil Society Organization Authority (CSOA), updated Tax Certification with TPN and VAT Registration.
- Expertise and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development sector with donor funded projects, including at least two assignments or projects for persons with disabilities.
- Good geographical presence at the regional level in Bhutan; wide geographical coverage will be prioritized.
- Capacity and experience in project, procurement, and financial management to comply with the reporting requirements of RGoB and UNDP.
- The Executive Director and designated focal person/programme manager must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in community outreach, development, and disability inclusion.
