The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “Country-Based Support Schemes (CBSS) 2016/17 – Uzbekistan” to support actions promoting a conducive environment for civil society organizations, developing capacity of civil society organizations and human rights defenders and supporting their activities focused on the enhancement of democracy, transparency, accountability and respect for human rights.
Objectives
- supporting gender equality (women’s rights, women in decision-making, right to participate in peace-building and reconstruction processes, fight against violence and harmful practices, etc.);
- support for protection of the social, economic and cultural rights, especially for groups particularly vulnerable to discrimination, such as the poor, women, children, indigenous peoples, migrants, refugees and the rights of persons belonging to minorities
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 250.000 and EUR 400.000.
Location
Actions must take place in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person or an entity without legal personality or a natural person and
- be non-profit-making
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator, local authority, international (inter-governmental) organisation of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or any other country
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the coapplicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations.
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
- Applications of lead applicants with at least one co-applicant are strongly encouraged.
