The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for its “Media Professionalism Programme Montenegro” to improve conditions for quality journalism including modern/innovative approaches to increase quality and credibility of investigative journalism.
The specific objective of this call for proposals is to support quality media production in the areas related to Montenegro’s European Integration and to enable media to report fairly, freely and in a professional and ethical manner while the ability of Montenegro’s journalists to use investigative techniques are meant to be further strengthened.

Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 90,000 and EUR 125,000.
Location
Actions should take place in Montenegro.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person established in Montenegro
- be either a media (print media, electronic media (radio or TV) including public broadcasters, on-line media, media production company),
- or a media professional association
- or a media training organisation
- or a journalist association
- or a university with a faculty for journalism and media studies
- or a civil society organisation
- be registered as a legal entity for a minimum of two years
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- For British applicants: Please be aware that eligibility criteria must be complied with for the entire duration of the grant. If the United Kingdom withdraws from the EU during the grant period without concluding an agreement with the EU ensuring in particular that British applicants continue to be eligible, you will cease to receive EU funding (while continuing, where possible, to participate) or be required to leave the project) of the General Conditions of the grant agreement.
