The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organizations for a programme entitled “Promoting and Protecting Child Rights in Ghana” with an aim to strengthen local and national child protection systems to protect children from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect.
Objectives
- To promote child rights for the most vulnerable children and to enhance child participation in the implementation of their rights.
- To close the gap between legislation and practice in the areas of juvenile justice.
Priority Areas
- Advocacy for the effective enforcement of child rights protection mechanisms that seek to protect the most vulnerable children, and create public awareness of the challenges facing these children;
- Ensure protection and rights of children in conflict with the law;
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 300,000 and EUR 500,000.
Location
Actions must take place in Ghana.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as Civil Society Organisations, including nongovernmental, non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community based organisations and private sector non-profit agencies, institutions, organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level,
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
- To be eligible, an action must include at least one local organisation, as lead applicant or co applicant.
- A “local organisation” (with or without legal personality) must be understood as “established” in the country or one of the countries outside EU where the action is taking place. An organisation is considered “local” when its charter demonstrates that the organisation has been established by an instrument governed by the national law of the country concerned (only for entities with legal personality) and that its head office is located in that country.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
