The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “Support to the Rule of Law and Access to Justice for All” in order to enhance the capacity of all people, especially women and vulnerable groups, to exercise their rights and access to justice.
Priorities
- Provide legal and other relevant services to vulnerable groups and individuals, especially women, children, people living with disabilities, prisoners, people living in rural areas, amongst others, in respect of civil and criminal cases, and with regard to issues such as corruption, gender-based violence and pre-trial justice.
- Monitoring the whole or parts of the justice chain to implement evidence based lobby, advocacy and solution driven interventions in support of increased efficiency, effectiveness and respect of rights in the justice delivery system.
- Implementation of actions aimed at fighting against corruption in order to contribute to improved integrity and transparency of the justice system.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 750000 and EUR 1 500 000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person
- be non-profit-making
- be a specific type of organisation such as: Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and their associations, local authorities, public bodies, public sector operators and their associations
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in a country eligible for European Development Fund
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- have demonstrated capacity and experience of at least two years in managing activities of a scale corresponding to at least half of the size of the grant requested and in the sector of rule of law and access to justice in Zimbabwe
- Political parties or entities affiliated to political parties are not eligible under this Call.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
