European Commission is inviting proposals for its Capacity-building in the area of Rights of the Child and Child-friendly Justice program.
Priority Areas
- Priority 1: To systemise and further roll out evidence-based supports to children
- children do not suffer further or secondary traumatisation as a result of their involvement in judicial proceedings;
- judicial and other practitioners are more aware of the evidence-based supports that could and should be provided to children;
- systemised individual assessments are conducted as required under EU law;
- children are better supported in judicial proceedings including in giving best evidence;
- the rights of the child are promoted and better protected before, during and after judicial proceedings;
- outcomes for children are improved;
- Member States are supported in implementing child-friendly justice processes and procedures;
- the rights of the child are better respected and implemented in the justice system.
- Priority 2: Capacity-building for judicial and other practitioners
- judicial and other practitioners are better equipped to communicate with children;
- Member States are supported in implementing child-friendly justice processes and procedures;
- multidisciplinary and interagency cooperation among the relevant national and other designated authorities is facilitated;
- the rights of the child are better respected and implemented in the justice system.
Eligibility Criteria
- List of eligible countries:
- Eligibility of the lead applicant (i.e. coordinator) and participants (partners)
- The applicant and the partners must be public bodies or private organisations, duly established in one of the countries participating in the programme, or international organisations.
- Organisations that are profit-oriented may only submit applications in partnership with public bodies or private non-profit organisations.
- Under the REC programme, entities affiliated to a beneficiary and linked third parties are not considered as project participants, unless they are included as partners in the proposal.
- Eligibility of the application
- The project can be either national or transnational;
- The application must be submitted by a partnership, including at least two organisations (applicant and partner) actively involved in the implementation of the proposed action (unless specified otherwise);
- The EU grant requested cannot be lower than EUR 75 000. There is no maximum limit.
- Note: for applicants and partners established in the UK: please be aware that they must comply with the eligibility criteria for the entire duration of the action for which a grant is awarded. If the UK withdraws from the EU during the grant period without concluding an agreement with the EU ensuring in particular, that UK applicants and partners continue to be eligible, they will cease to receive EU funding (while continuing, where possible, to participate) or be required to leave the project on the basis of Article 34 of the grant agreement.
