The Government of Canada is inviting eligible entities to apply for funding under the grants and contributions program Advancing Accessibility Standards Research program.
Objectives
- Advance/ inform research on accessibility standards to help develop new or revise existing accessibility standards that fall under federal areas of responsibilities;
- Connect people with disabilities, other experts, and partners in the disability field and other fields to design and implement the research; and
- Share findings of the research, information, best practices, and tools on accessibility barriers and standards.
Priority Areas
- Accessibility in Indigenous communities.
- A built environment with a focus on heritage buildings.
- Communication, other than plain language.
- Design and delivery of programs and services.
- Information and communication technology.
- Procurement (buying) of goods, services, and facilities.
Funding Information
- Eligible organizations can apply for up to $250,000 per year per project (with a maximum of $750,000 over 3 years).
Eligible projects
The project must meet all of the following criteria:
- Runs for a minimum of 6 months and no longer than 36 months.
- Requests a minimum of $30,000 and no more than $250,000 per fiscal year, per project (with a maximum of $750,000 over 3 years).
- Have secured a partnership with:
- at least 1 other organization, if the applicant asked for less than $100,000 per fiscal year.
- at least 2 other organizations, if the applicant asked between $100,000 and $250,000 per fiscal year. One must be a national disability organization.
- Addresses at least one of the priority areas.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant organization must be one of the following legal entities in Canada:
- Research and educational institutions (such as a university).
- Not-for-profit organization (an organization that does not make money for itself).
- The indigenous organization, including:
- band council;
- tribal council;
- self-governing entity.
- Municipal (local) organization.
- Provincial and territorial organization (excluding provincial or territorial governments).
- For-profit organization (the organization that can make money for itself).
