The project “Strengthening Social Cohesion in Moldova through Dialogue and Community Empowerment” aims to strengthen social cohesion, resilience and sustainable peace on both banks of the Nistru River.
Goal
- Strengthen the capacity of target communities and their inhabitants to play an active role in addressing the needs of the population (elderly, young people, women, underrepresented groups and refugees), address local tensions and strengthen social cohesion.
Objective
- 10 youth-led initiatives for social de-escalation and strengthening social cohesion, interregional cooperation and intercultural communication, with the participation of young people in the implementation team, are implemented in 10 localities where the STMM mechanism is ongoing.

- The maximum budget limit is 16,000 US dollars.
Outcome and Results
- The project has one outcome – “Beneficiary communities on both banks of the Nistru River contribute to improving (inter-community) dialogue, trust and cooperation” and two results:
- Result 1: “Local platforms and tools are created in target communities to encourage dialogue, tolerance and cooperation”
- Outcome 2: “Young people and older people have the ability to actively participate in community life, access social services and contribute to social cohesion”
- The second result involves the creation of local community initiatives/dialogue platforms.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants will be awarded only to non-governmental organizations registered in accordance with the national legislation of the Republic of Moldova. Applicants must have a bank account in MDL dedicated to this project. The grant will be disbursed in MDL at the UN operational exchange rate (UNORE) in effect on the date of signing the grant agreement. In case of discrepancies between translations, the English version will prevail.
- Project proposals that meet the following criteria will be considered eligible:
- The applicant is a non-governmental organization (NGO) or a civil society organization (CSO) legally registered in accordance with the national legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
- The applicant is either an NGO/CSO registered in one of the STMM localities, or has actively implemented at least three project interventions in these localities in the last three years.
- The proposed initiative is consistent with the overall objective of the Project.
