The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites Civil Society Institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and / or non-governmental legal entities operating in the Kyrgyz Republic to take part in the competition for the submission of proposals related to the sub-project “Creation of a female creative laboratory in the city of Osh”.
This Request for Proposals for a Grant has been announced within the framework of UNDP Gender Approach projects in collaboration with the UNDP Accelerator Lab initiative.
The Call for Grant proposal is announced within the framework of the Gender Mainstreaming project in collaboration with UNDP Accelerator Lab initiative and funding from two sources:
- TRAC2 which will cover costs related to launch of the Women’s Creative Lab (WCL).
- Funding collected by the UNDP crowdfunding campaign. The funding will be used to scale scope of the activities planned under WCL.
Objectives
The sub-project designed on principle of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The sub-project implements direct targeted interventions for enhancing opportunities for girls and women in creative industries in Osh city, which focuses on objectives:
- Establishment of the “resident’s club” which will be the core of WCL in Osh city;
- Support naturally evolving “women support women” network as a part of the creative ecosystem where girls and women consider themselves not competitors but co-creators through the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and joint activities;
- Create adequate infrastructure: provide safe and creative space and necessary training and equipment to develop and advance their skills in creative industries;
- Harness potential of “Community of Practice” which was launched over the STEM4ALL Regional Conference;
- Connect WCL’s residents with potential employers to enhance job opportunities through meetups, internships, etc./
As per this sub-project, an initial grant of 20,000 USD (baseline) is allocated, which should be used by NGO to establish Women’s Creative Lab in Osh through:
- Provision safe space for women who will participate in the WCL in Osh both for workshops and office for practical exercises under the trainings and educational activities.
- Provision with equipment needed by selected participants of WCL in Osh to participate in training programmes and test and prototype their ideas in creative industries;
- Provision of continued business mentoring and advisory support to alumni of the training programmes to ensure effective implication of knowledge provided in their practices;
- Monitoring the results/ impact of the different products with a special focus on decent jobs, livelihoods and trade turnover.
Funding Information
- The total amount of grant funds allocated to the NGO will be 20,000 (Twenty thousand) USD which will be directed to the organizing trainings, procurement of equipment for practicing skills received, covering expenses with arranging space for WCL and program management and operational expenses of the NGO.
- The duration is 15 months, from December 2021 to March 2023. The NGO will ensure that all services are completed by the end of March 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal status of civil society organization according to legislation of KR.
- At least 3-years’ experience for conducting programs focused on capacity building for women in creative industries including but not limited with capacity building programs in STEM for women.
- Experience for conducting programs focused on capacity building for women in creative industries including but not limited with capacity building programs in STEM for women.
- Proof of organizational management, network of professionals and experts in creative industries and in-house human resources to manage projects and programs.
- Capacity to contribute into communication campaign on WCL through the use of social media marketing and other communication channel.
- Proven experience with rural, marginalized, defragmented and vulnerable communities following the principles of “leaving no-one behind” and “doing no harm”.
- Advanced network of community members grassroots innovators who might directly and indirectly benefit from the establishment of WCL
- Capacity of key personnel in technical assistance and developing capacity of women including providing professional trainings, non-formal educational activities, mentorship for women on practical implication of knowledge obtained, organizing peer to peer collaboration of women who obtain knowledge in creative industries.
- Premises (owned or rented) with necessary utilities required for hosting participants of trainings and educational activities under WCL during the period of the sub-project implementation.
- Methodology of 1-year program on developing capacities of women in creative industries, which describes achieving key performance indicators indicated in the TOR.
