The Greater London Authority is inviting applications for the Stronger Communities Fund to support projects that use sport and physical activity to address increased levels of loneliness and social isolation that have spiked during COVID-19 due to prolonged lockdown and social distancing measures.
The Stronger Communities Fund is part of the Mayor’s Sport Unites programme. Funding will be available for projects that use sport and physical activity to address increased levels of loneliness and social isolation that have risen during COVID-19. Grant are aimed at those who often find it harder to access funding.
Funding Information
- Greater London Authority’s Grants are available between £2,000 and £10,000 and your project delivery should take place between November 2020 and February 2021.
Type of Projects
Greater London Authority is looking to invest in projects which reduce loneliness and social isolation of Londoners. They will give priority to:
- Projects that work with Londoners who have been disproportionately more at risk of loneliness and social isolation during COVID-19 such as (but not exclusively): deaf and disabled people or those with long-term health conditions, people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities, LGBTQ+ Londoners, parents with young children, people of lower incomes, and those with limited access to digital technology and the internet;
- those that already have strong connections in their communities and can reach and connect with people at high risk of loneliness and social isolation;
- smaller organisations and individuals who typically find it hard to access funding.
- Greater London Authority cannot fund projects which aim only to increase participation in sport.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will be accepted from both organisations and individuals or informal groups.
- If you are applying as an individual or informal group, you will need a referee to support your application and accept the funds on your behalf.
