Objectives
- Through grant-making, networking, capacity building, resource mobilization, project monitoring and evaluation, they aim at achieving the following objectives:
- Ensure the social visibility of issues about gender and sexual orientation, particularly those neglected or newly arisen, and to initiate changes from an intersectional perspective;
- Enhance the resilience of grassroots organisations or community leaders as they navigate challenges so that the organisations can develop sustainably. It includes building the capacity to mobilize resources, exploring transformative feminist leadership, etc;
- Build alliances of mutual help and solidarity among marginalised communities in which everyone can feel that they are seen, respected and supported.
Supported Groups
- HER Fund is a committed partner with the most vulnerable and marginalised women, girls and trans communities in Hong Kong.
- By marginalisation, they refer to individuals or groups who are denied their reasonable rights or resources on the ground of their identities (e.g. gender, ethnicity and age).
- Along the following two dimensions, HER Fund identifies potential marginalised communities for partnership:
- Attributes of communities: Communities characterized by age, ethnicity, socio- economic status, bodily conditions, gender, etc. For example, young girls, grassroots women, grassroots women workers, transgender, people with diverse genders, people with physical or mental disability, migrant workers, refugees, asylum seekers, etc.
- Issues concerned: Issues arising from gender stereotypes and prejudice, for example, violence, discrimination, exploitation and poverty, etc.
Funding Information
- Grant amount: Maximum HK$80,000
Duration
- Within the period of 1 March 2025 – 28 February 2026 (Maximum of 12 months).
Eligibility Criteria
- Any registered group or organisation in Hong Kong can apply (e.g. organisations with charity status under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, societies registered under the Societies Ordinance, Limited companies by guarantee).
- Note: HER Fund welcomes collaboration among groups/ organisations in application for funding. The applicant must be a registered group/ organisation as detailed above.
