HER Fund has launched the General Grant Program to pool resources to empower women and transgender people, advocate for social change and gender equality, and increase social attention to improve their situations by providing grants and capacity building to grassroots organizations.
Objectives
- Through resource development, project monitoring and evaluation, they can achieve the following objectives:
- To make different gender issues, especially new or neglected issues, visible to the society and to use a diverse and intersectional perspective Instigate change;
- Enhance the ability of grassroots organizations or community leaders to withstand challenges, including resource development and exploration of powerful Awareness of leadership models, etc., so that the organization can be sustainable;
- Unite marginalized communities and build mutually supportive alliances so that everyone in the community feels valued, respected, and supported.
Aspects
- The HER Fund identifies marginalized communities that need support based on the following two aspects:
- By community attributes: communities defined by age, race, socioeconomic status, physical condition, gender, etc., such as teenage girls, gay men, Women at the grassroots level, women workers at the grassroots level, transgender people, gender diverse people, people with disabilities, migrant workers, refugees, asylum seekers etc.
- Specific issues faced by each community: violence, discrimination, exploitation and poverty caused by gender stereotypes and prejudices.
Funding Information
- Grant amount: HK$70,000 to HK$80,000
Duration
- Implementation period: 12 months (between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026).
Funding Criteria
- When reviewing projects, the HER Fund will consider the extent to which the projects meet the following criteria:
- Gender and feminist perspectives
- The project can analyze the intertwined difficulties and needs currently faced by marginalized communities based on their current situation, so as to eliminate the problems caused by gender violence, discrimination, poverty caused by gender inequality and promoting the civic participation of women and transgender people.
- This funding will give special consideration to projects related to “eliminating violence”.
- Participation and decision-making level of women and transgender people
- Projects that support women and transgender people and are led by them; or when designing and implementing projects,
- Continue to involve those you support in decision-making so that their voices and opinions are included.
- Changes brought to society
- The project can bring about changes in the following aspects:
- Support the transformation of the subjects’ gender awareness and behavior
- The recipients of support can obtain more resources, services and power
- Change relevant culture, values and social stereotypes
- Changes to relevant laws, systems and regulations
- Promote institutional development
- The project can bring about changes in the following aspects:
- Feasibility, innovation and sustainability of the plan
- The project’s objectives and implementation methods are reasonable and feasible; it uses new methods or concepts to respond to problems, and its uniqueness can inspire Change and continuous development, and the impact it has on organizational development.
- Organization/group size, positioning and resource development capabilities
- The organization/group implementing the project is small or newly established, with limited resources or resource development capabilities, making the allocation
- Funds can serve as seed funds, allowing new work projects to germinate and develop. Organizations/groups dedicated to promoting gender equality
- Gender and feminist perspectives
Eligibility Criteria
- Any organization officially registered in Hong Kong can apply;
- Organizations (e.g. charities registered under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, societies registered, companies limited by guarantee Companies) can apply.
- Note: HER Fund welcomes collaborative projects and joint applications for funding. Applicants must be registered organizations/groups.
