The Department of Housing, Local Government and Community Development (DHLGCD) provides Water Infrastructure Upgrade Program to assist service providers in the delivery of municipal and essential services and the maintenance and improvement of currently occupied homes across Northern Territory homelands.
The Capital Program will allocate funding across the Barkly region to improve water supply quality to homeland residents. The infrastructure required to deliver the water should be in the best possible condition with well-maintained bore sites, valves, storage tanks, water mains, supply lines and tap ware.
Program Outcome and Benefits
- The project will allocate funding across 35 homelands across the Barkly region and to improve water supply quality to homeland residents. Minor works upto the value of $15,000 (incl GST) per homeland can be carried out.
- Each component of the water supply chain needs to be in good working condition for maximum water security.
- The infrastructure required to deliver the water should be in the best possible condition with well-maintained bore sites, valves, storage tanks, water mains, supply lines and tap ware
- The program may also contribute to the following outcomes:
- Community members have the opportunity and are encouraged to participate and contribute within their community.
- Overall quality of the water delivery infrastructure in the Homelands is improved.
- Employment and training opportunities for local residents.
- The use of local businesses to deliver goods and services through potential sub-contracting arrangements is maximized.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Organisations
- Any legally constituted not-for-profit organisations, businesses, community groups or enterprises are eligible to apply for this grant, provided they hold a current Australian Business Number (ABN).
- The Department welcomes submissions from Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and Aboriginal business enterprises or applications based on consortium arrangements with Aboriginal organisations or Aboriginal business enterprises.
- Eligible non-government organisations must have published audited accounts.
- Contractor Accreditation Limited (CAL) accreditation or similar other industry accreditation is a requirement of this grant application, and applicants should submit this as part of the Response Schedules.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Ineligible Organisations
- Unincorporated associations, overseas residents or individuals or businesses not holding a current ABN are not eligible to apply for this grant.
