LBGTQ+ Family Violence Prevention and Services

Request for Proposals: Community Based Organisations (South Africa)

Deadline: 19-Jul-21

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), Family Violence Prevention and Services (FVPSA) Program seeks to award one cooperative agreement under the Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grants program to support a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Institute on Intimate Partner Violence (Institute) to expand and enhance the capacity of both domestic violence and LGBTQ-specific organizations to more effectively identify and respond to the unique needs of LGBTQ intimate partner violence victims.

The Institute grant recipient will inform the development of LGBTQ-specific domestic/intimate partner violence and dating violence prevention and intervention strategies, including screening and ongoing assessment that can be replicated in local victim services programs.

The Institute will develop technical assistance, training, and resources, including emerging, promising, and best practices and guidelines, and information on evidence-informed, trauma-informed, and culturally-relevant programming to support LGBTQ individuals, families, and communities impacted by domestic violence.

The grantee will also participate in ongoing coordination and collaboration with the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA)-funded resource centers in the Domestic Violence Resource Network (DVRN), a network of training and technical assistance organizations that coordinates training and technical assistance efforts to improve domestic violence and dating violence prevention and interventions programs nationwide.

IPV is a significant health and social problem among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and Two-Spirit communities and has serious physical health, mental health, and social consequences for its victims, their families, communities, and society-at-large. However, victims of IPV continue to face barriers when seeking trauma-informed and culturally competent services to prevent and address such abuse.

Purpose

Through this FOA, FYSB will support one cooperative agreement. The grantee must demonstrate its ability to accomplish the following requirements:
