The Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) is currently seeking applications for its Little Princess Trust Project Grants to support research into cancers affecting children, teenagers and young adults.
The Little Princess Trust has been funding research into childhood cancers since 2016. They fund research that will lead to kinder, more targeted, less toxic and more effective treatments for all childhood cancers. They will only consider funding work which will have a direct impact on the outcomes of children and young people and have a strong focus on innovation.

Details
- Applications to this funding round should be for scientific proposals that study:
- New approaches to treatment, in particular:
- More effective treatment with fewer toxicities/on-treatment side effects
- Approaches to treatment that may lead to a reduction in short- and long-term sequelae of treatment (but studies focusing on treatment of late effects, health behaviour interventions for survivors, fertility/reproductive health and psychosocial aspects are unlikely to be considered)
- The causes of childhood or TYA cancer, where the research is likely to lead to an improvement in outcomes
- Accurate diagnosis of childhood or TYA cancer, where the research is likely to lead to an improvement in outcomes
- New approaches to treatment, in particular:
Challenges
- Current challenges with research into children’s cancers
- Too few researchers
- Poor awareness
- Lack of available funding
- Not enough industry support
Funding Information
- Grants awarded to date through competitive open calls have typically ranged in value between £100,000 and £250,000, though they have also awarded some significant grants up to £1.4M and a small number of pilot grants.

Eligibility Criteria
- They will only fund research based at or led by higher education establishments and the NHS in the UK. Where a collaborative project exists with an overseas partner, whether led by the UK end or not, any financial commitment by The Little Princess Trust must be managed through the UK institution.
- They will accept applications led by clinical and non-clinical scientists, and other UK registered health professionals.
- All project proposals will be assessed on an equal footing.
