Miss.Africa 2016 Seed Funding Round II: Seeking Applications for Tech Initiative for Women in Africa

UNFPA Liberia Country Programme Document 2020-2024

Deadline: 15 November 2016

Miss.Africa Initiative led by DCA Academy, is pleased to announce a Seed Fund in Africa that will provide small grants to support women and girls in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields to launch or expand their own initiatives that will increase their digital opportunities in IT related training, jobs and leadership roles.

The program is interested in learning about successful activities that are currently supporting women and girls in STEM, and through this effort, we identify how we might support scalability and their impacts.

Miss.africa as part of DCA’s DotAfrica vision is an effort aimed at inspiring African girls and women in technology for personal growth, positive action, and digital self-awareness with funding to be provided from DCA’s charitable trust fund. Miss.africa is envisioned as one of the central pillars of DCA’s corporate social responsibility program.

The Vision of DCA is to realize that DotAfrica (.africa) domain name will be useful for branding of products and services to the enormous benefit of organizations and individuals that have an enduring stake in Africa thereby providing a very unique African on-line identity.

DCA also seeks to assist in the strategic coordination of government internet policies, establish policy priorities, offer new policy choices, and ensure that the implications of internet policy options are fully considered.  It encourages all stakeholders to participate in this dialogue, in particular the African Diaspora.
