National Geographic Society: Seeking Proposals for Documenting Human Migrations

The National Geographic Society is seeking proposals for its Documenting Human Migrations to support research into the causes and effects of human migration, and to support impactful projects that through education or storytelling seek to increase understanding of and tolerance towards migrants and migrant communities.

Types of human migrations include (but are not limited to) nomadic communities, refugees of all kinds, migrant labor, victims of human trafficking, and people exploring the planet and beyond.

Projects focused around education or storytelling should explicitly state the plan for evaluating the impact of the work.

Priority will be given to projects that aim to do one or more of the following:

Funding Information

Applicants may request up to US $50,000, though grants are typically funded for less than US $30,000. Up to 20 percent of the requested amount can be used as stipends for the applicant or team members.
