National Geographic Society: Seeking Proposals for Reducing Marine Plastic Pollution Program

Applications Open for East Asia Summit Hackathon on Combatting Marine Plastic

The National Geographic Society is seeking proposals for its program entitled “Reducing Marine Plastic Pollution” to measurably reduce plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean.

National Geographic Society seeks scientists and innovators, including conservationists, educators, and storytellers, who develop or pilot solutions that stop pollution and/or effect behavior change in key stakeholders.

Preference will be given to applicants who are residents or citizens of the country where the work will be conducted and to projects with higher potential for scaling and impact or that fill key knowledge gaps around the flow of plastic from their sources into the ocean.

Priority will be given to projects that aim to do one or more of the following:

Funding Information

Typical proposals should request less than $30,000; however, applicants may request up to $100,000. Successful applicants may use awarded funds over one or two years.
